BGD-560PKC-1JR BABY-G 25th Anniversary Pikachu Collaboration

Casio has announced that a Baby-G & Pikachu Collaboration model, BGD-560PKC-1JR, will be release in November, 2019. The first BABY-G was produced in 1994 and this year is its 25th Anniversary. Casio has been producing many collaboration watches with anime and game characters, so it may not be a big surprise to some BABY-G fans. However, BGD-560PKC-1JR is definitely a special collaboration. The number, “25”, is a special number for Pikachu fans because Pikachu’s Pokédex number is similarly “No.025”, which is a perfect reason for Casio to chose this character to celebrate BABY-G’s 25th anniversary.

Speaking of the number 25, some people may wonder why “0:25” is printed on loop of this watch. It may seem to indicate a certain time at a glance. But this actually reminds us of the BABY-G’s 25th anniversary and Pikachu’s Pokédex number. In general, Casio would straight forwardly put “-th Anniversary” somewhere on the watch, but this time, they simply printed “0:25” instead. It is pretty rare to show in this kind of way of and very impressive.

The design may be more familiar to older generation than the younger as its design is influenced by “Pokémon Green/ Red”, a game boy software released in 1996; there are pixel graphic patterns on the band and the lines that surrounds the EL display that resembles the window that pops up in the game. To mention some other features, a pixel graphic Pikachu appears on the display by turning on the back light while the back plate shows the back side of the pixel graphic Pikachu. The watch comes with a special package; a can Pokémon Ball and a box with pixel graphic patterns.
