DW-6900 TOMMY Collaboration

A collaboration watch between Tommy Hilfiger Japan“TOMMY” and CASIO “G-SHOCK” was released in 2011. The based model is DW-6900 featuring the G-Shock’s tough looking shape while the watch is colored in blue and red, colors that are commonly used in Tommy Hilfiger outfits. Apart from the main stream Tommy Hilfiger’s classic American fashion taste, TOMMY is influenced by New York street fashion targeting customer at the younger age particularly in Japan. Unlike the main stream Tommy Hilfiger, TOMMY clothing have “NYC” print somewhere on the clothing. Similarly, people might expect there is “NYC” logo on the watch too, but instead, “NEW YORK” is printed on the band, which may be interesting feature. The reason is why they have that instead is uncertain and several assumption can be made but perhaps they wanted to have the NYC printing only on the clothing for branding.

As noted above, at a glance the watch is collared in Tommy Hilfiger’s flag color, blue. The red colored band is printed with fashionable dark red stars and words, “Tommy” and “New York” in white. The 3 colors and the stars reminds us of the U.S flag, which makes sense why they have the Stars and Stripes style box. The Statue of liberty is engraved on the back plate. The display glows in the dark if you press the “G” button, and “TOMMY” appears in bold letters. The tag that comes with the watch looks like the ones used in apparel rather than the price tags used in Casio watches.

This watch rare in Japan but even much rare at markets outside of Japan. If you are both an TOMMY and G-SHOCK fan, it’s something you cannot simply pass by.
